Chien Kun Magazine is a bilingual cultural journal published by C.K.
Foundation. The magazine aims to communicate, exchange, and bridge the Chinese
and American cultures by introducing the characteristics, traditional values and virtue
of Chinese culture to the young generations and the general public.
The magazine bears the name of Chien Kun, which originates from the ancient
traditional Chinese wisdom of heaven, earth, and mankind as one. "Chien" is heaven;
"Kun" is earth; and, Human is in between. Chien Kun also has the meaning of Yin and
Yang, male and female, and thus represents the way of humanity (or human nature).
Chien Kun's topics have covered a broad scale in the 12 volumes published since its
inauguration, including: the coming of the Chinese era and the global recognition of
Chinese culture in the 21st century, the mission and opportunity of the overseas
Chinese, Humanity and the Law, World Harmony, Harmonizing with Confucius'
Teaching of Propriety and Music, Wake up from the American Matrix, Sex and
Humanity, The Internet Age, and, Save our Earth.
In this age of mass information exchange taking place across global cultures and
geography, one needs wisdom and direction to navigate through the sea of information
without becoming lost. By learning and utilizing the traditional Chinese wisdom, which
has accumulated from a rich, never-interrupted, and renewing history, Chien Kun has
done its best to see into happenings and phenomena, to examine their truth, and
thusly, to offer a different, yet insightful, point of view on various issues.
We believe that during this period of globalization of cultural communication, mutual
understanding and mutual respect among cultures is essential for success. Chien
Kun aims to contribute in such a regard, and hopes you will find it valuable and
inspiring!
