Since its establishment in 2004, Chien Kun
Foundation has been striving to provide a cultural
platform for communication and exchange, and working
to bridge the gap between the Chinese and American
cultures.
The Foundation has held many cultural activities and
events, including the exhibitions of The Great Voyages
of Zheng He's 600th Anniversary; and, "A Centurial
Retrospection - From the Opium Wars to the 10th
Anniversary of the Return of Hong Kong". These events
have provided a window of insight into the Chinese
culture and history.
Other cultural activities, such as the Chinese New Year
Week and Tea Culture Demonstration, have helped the
public and youngsters to further cultural understanding
and appreciation. In the summer of 2007, the
Foundation organized a China Learning Tour, which
brought a group of youngsters and parents to China, to
closely experience its rich culture and history.
The Foundation has also been concerned with, and
cares about environmental issues in this critical time of
global warming, and has organized activities to promote
protection of environment, joining in such mainstream
activities as Earth Day and World Vegetarian Month.
The Foundation publishes a bilingual cultural journal
Chien Kun Magazine, and has setup a website to serve
as cultural platforms.
In order to meet the increasing interest in learning the
Chinese language and culture, the Foundation is
looking for financial support to establish a cultural
learning center in New York City. The center will provide
the opportunity for teaching and learning the Chinese
language and culture, including the traditional Chinese
ideology, common historical knowledge and stories,
classical Chinese arts (music, chess, calligraphy, and
painting), etc.
The center will be located in Manhattan's historic
Chinatown, in which its Chinese environment will be
utilized for a lively cultural learning experience. A
learning tour to China will be organized each year.
C.K. Foundation has a vision for a world of Great
Harmony. Its mission is to contribute for cultural
learning, exchange, and understanding. If you agree to
help bridge and harmonize cultures, or are interested in
learning about Chinese culture, please help support us
by making your tax deductable donation to C.K.
Foundation.
